In 2004 the Younes family and the American University in Cairo (AUC) established a fund dedicated to the memory of Nadia. The fund was made possible with the generous contributions and donations from people all around the world who knew Nadia and the Younes family.
The fund provides the resources for inviting renowned international figures in the field of politics, international relations, humanitarian affairs, and any related subjects and disciplines.
Over the past four years, the fund has been privileged to host United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, who delivered the inaugural lecture in 2005. Dr. Bernard Kouchner followed in 2006 and has since become Foreign Minister of France. Mrs. Mary Robinson, the ex-president of Ireland and ex-UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, was the guest speaker in 2007.
In 2009 the Lecture Series welcomed Sir Jeremy Greenstock, a former British Ambassador to the United Nations and UK envoy to post-2003 Iraq. This lecture was followed by a panel discussion where faculty, students and guests were able to engage the panel in lively debate.
In February 2010 we were delighted to host H.E. Amre Moussa, Secretary-General of the Arab League and former Foreign Minister of Egypt.
